About Regal Swim

Thank you for wanting to learn more about Regal Swim! This is Marci, I started teaching swim lessons in 2011, after three summers of working as an ocean lifeguard. I worked for a few different swim companies and eventually started Regal Swim in 2016. Over the years, I’ve modified the Learn-to-Swim method used by the American Red Cross to help students learn to swim as efficiently as possible. The levels I’ve created start by focusing on survival swimming and move into teaching stroke technique. As Regal Swim has grown, I’ve been able to hire some wonderful instructors to help teach lessons and lifeguard.

It’s important to me to hire reliable, quality instructors. All of the Regal Swim instructors have at least a bachelor’s degree, pass a swim test that I administer, and pass a background test. They come from diverse swimming backgrounds and bring a variety of teaching techniques with them. I also spend time training each instructor.

Marci Palla About Regal Swim

Hi!  My name is Marci.  I am the owner of Regal Swim.  After four years on the Cal Poly Triathlon Team, three summers as an ocean lifeguard, and completing the American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor course, I began teaching swim lessons in 2011.  During my years as a swim instructor, I have worked with swimmers of all levels from beginners afraid to put their face in the water to adults training for triathlons.  After years of experience teaching swim lessons, I have developed a curriculum based on the American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim program to provide structured swim lessons. I push my students to overcome any fears they have of the water and become confident swimmers.

Marci teaches swim lessons in Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach, and Torrance. She also teaches lessons in Palos Verdes Estates, Ranchos Palos Verdes, Rolling Hills, and Rolling Hills Estates with a 2 hour minimum.

Coach Spyder

Coach Spyder Regal Swim

Hey, my name is Spyder. My two favorite things in life are optimism and the water. I spend most of my life in the ocean surf or the pool swimming. I was a competitive varsity swimmer and water polo player in high school. After that, I went to film school at UC Santa Barbara. Now, I surf every morning. Swim shape is a fundamental element of my life, and sharing it with others is too. I have experience teaching both swim and surf lessons, and I started working for Regal Swim in March 2023.

Coach Spyder teaches lessons in Venice, Marina del Rey, Del Rey, Mar Vista, Westchester, El Segundo, and Manhattan Beach.

After graduating from college, I’ve enjoyed open water swimming and triathlons. Swimming has impacted my life in so many positive ways! Coach Mackenzie

mackenzie regal swim about

Hey, my name is Mackenzie. I grew up competing in both swim and soccer. In college, I played soccer in at New York’s Ithaca College while pursuing my BS in Health Sciences. My whole life I’ve had a true passion for fitness and wellness. I obtained my ACE fitness instructor certification with the intention of spreading the power of exercise to my clients. Personally, I’ve found my time in the water to be the most beneficial both physically and mentally. Sharing in the release that swimming provides with others is an important part of my life. My favorite ways to enjoy the water are open-water swimming, surfing, and swimming with my dog Dill. (I taught him everything he knows!)

Coach Mackenzie is coming soon to Palos Verdes Estates, Ranchos Palos Verdes, Rolling Hills, Rolling Hills Estates, Harbor City, Lomita, and San Pedro.

Will they be back?

Because most people only want swim lessons when it’s warm, we loose most of our instructors at the end of the season when they have to find full-time jobs elsewhere. Some of them do teach swim lessons on the side in future summers, but they usually don’t make their summer plans until May. We will also be hiring more instructors, but those instructors usually don’t apply for swim positions until May or June.

Coach Kira

Kira About Regal Swim

Coach Kira is pregnant! She may teach for a couple months this spring, but she isn’t sure yet.

Hey, I’m Kira!  I started competitively swimming at age 5, and I swam all the way through college on a Division 1 team at the University of Northern Colorado.  My events were the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle and butterfly, and 200 freestyle.  During college, I also taught swim lessons and worked as a lifeguard.  After I graduated from college, I became a mermaid for the Denver Aquarium.  Free diving with the sea life there was one of my favorite experiences.  Now I enjoy playing in the ocean with friends, doing buoy swims, and surfing.

Coach Kira is done for the season.

Coach Stef

Coach Stef plans on returning to teach swim lessons part-time. She is waiting to figure out her full-time job schedule to see what her swim schedule will be.

Hi, I’m Stef.  My  family moved a lot when I was growing up, but no matter where we lived, I was always swimming!    After graduating from Cal Poly, I spent a lot of time  volunteering with children, including mentoring children in the Boys & Girls Club.  Eventually, I decided to lean into my passion of working with children and began teaching swim lessons.  Now, I work with children and adults interested in learning how to swim and building upon their current skills.  As an attentive and  compassionate swim instructor, my goal is to empower students with the tools they need to meet their individual goals.  I want all my students to feel accomplished and supported each step of the way!

Coach Bailey

During the winter season, Coach Bailey got engaged! She is still deciding her plans for this summer.

Hi I’m Bailey! I’ve been passionate about swimming and water sports since I was on the swim team in elementary school and spent the summers in Palos Verdes doing Junior Lifeguards. After graduating from UC Irvine, I competed in two triathlons and the Pier to

Pier Swim from Hermosa to Manhattan Beach. I was a Camp Chadwick counselor for three summers where I led students through several organized activities from art projects to swim time. I also have extensive babysitting and nannying experience. I’m so so excited to work with new swimmers to build confidence and skills in the water this summer!

Coach Bailey has ended her summer swim season for 2023.

.

Coach Ann

Coach Ann is still deciding her plans for this summer!

Hi, I’m Ann! I’ve been playing water polo since age 9. I played water polo at the University of Hawai’i and played professionally in Italy. In high school, I was also on the swim team and that gave me an advantage of being the fastest swimmer on my water polo team. Water polo has given me many friendships, has allowed me to represent my home country in international tournaments and endless memories. When I’m not at the pool, you can find me at the ocean! My favorite surf spot is Ala Moana Bowls on Oahu! I love to surf and spend time in the ocean. I can’t wait to share my love for the pool with swimmers this summer!
